These guidelines may be adapted to suit local conditions and requirements. It is recommended that if a large increase in temperature is likely to occur, parents should take extra care to ensure athletes are sufficiently hydrated prior to commencing training.

  1. It is recommended that each player take plenty of water with them when training.
  2. It is recommended that players drink at least 7-8ml of fluid per Kg of body mass to diminish the risk of heat illness – about 500ml for 65kg person.
  3. Children can stave off dehydration during 3 hours of exercise in 35 degrees heat if enough fluid is consumed.
  4. Fluid should be consumed at least two hours before exercising to promote adequate hydration and allow time for excretion of excess water.
  5. There will be a water station provided by Rising Stars AFL Football Academy at every session.
  6. All athletes to wear a hat during training.
  7. Sunscreen to be applied (we will also have sunscreen on hand)

It is recommended that parents and Rising Stars coaches use caution if players are exercising in ambient temperatures above 40°C for an extended period of time (more than 1 hour). It is recommended that events be called off if the ambient temperature goes above 40°C

All athletes will have cover for Public Liability Insurance, Professional Indemnity and Sports Injury.

Rising Stars AFL Football Academy does not represent that a player participation in RSAFA will result in any pre-selection opportunities with any affiliated football programs.
